The character was created by Charles Nicholas and debuted in the
comic book “Mystery Men” in 1939. Over the decades, the Blue Beetle

The radio program did not last too long, only 48
epidodes of 13 minute length (combined here into 24 episodes of
26 minutes.) The programs follow the adventures of Dan Garret, a
policeman who finds the police bureaucracy a little to constraining.
When he feels that the red tape gets in the way of justice, Dan
dons the special armor created by his friend and mentor, Doctor
Franz, puts on a mask and fights crime as The Blue Beetle. The actor
who portrayed Dan Garrett was Frank Lovejoy.
