"This is the Mysterious Traveler, inviting you to join me in
another journey into the strange and the terrifying. I hope you
will enjoy the trip, that it will thrill you a little and chill
you a little. So settle back, get a good grip on your nerves, and
be comfortable. If you can." So begins each episode of the
Mysterious Traveler, the brainchild of writers, producers and directors
Robert Arthur and David Kogan. The character of the Mysterious Traveler,
who arrived and departed on a train, never appeared in the stories,
and existed only as narrator, introducing and concluding each show
that ran the gamut from horror and science fiction to conventional
crime. Beginning its nine-year run in 1943, the travelerís train
last departed the station in 1953.
