Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. That’s pretty much all you need to know about this show. Who wouldn’t want to listen to a show starring Bogart and Bacall?

The setting of the show, as if it mattered, was Havana, Cuba (before Castro). The format of the show was a half hour drama/adventure. Bogart played Slate Shannon, the owner of a run down hotel in Havana, and captain of the ship “Bold Venture”. Bacall played a younger character named “Sailor”. Sailor’s father died, leaving Sailor in the care of Captain Shannon. Many of the adventures featured the couple using their ship to travel around Cuba or the Caribbean having adventures with gangsters, natives, drifters, treasure hunters, among others. Another regular character was King Moses, a singer in the hotel who provided music and lyrics that fit in with the storyline.

The show relied a little too heavily on the star name attractions, the stories and rest of the production were not that great. But still, come on Bogart and Bacall! The show aired from 1951 to 1952.
