Chandu the Magician
"The magic of Egypt and Baghdad with their strange secrets and ways will hold
you spell bound".
This children’s adventure series stars Frank Chandler, an American, who learned mystic secrets from an Indian guru as the mysterious Chandu. The character of Frank was played Tom Collins. Chandu traveled all over the world, with an emphasis on the Middle East and the lost continent of Lemuria. When in trouble or to find information, Chandu would whip out his trusty crystal ball to spiritually coax an answer from the mystic powers of the ether (possibly the only device better than a Ouji board for getting the answers you really need in jiffy). Other characters in the show include an Egyptian princess, the evil Roxor (later played by Bela Lugosi in the Chandu movie), and Chandu’s sister.
This show first started in 1931, had a short run, then was revamped in 1948 and lasted until 1950. The programs offered on this disk are from 1948 and 1949 and last 15 minutes each. For those looking for a good analysis of the complexities of the middle eastern geopolitical stage with the rise of religious fundamentalism versus a growing technological and oil based societies, this program really isn't for you. But if you want a good fun adventure show with a cool lost continent, this is right up your alley.

The sound quality of Old Time Radio Programs can vary greatly. Some episodes are excellent, others you have to turn up the volume a little and ignore the static. All of the episodes can be listened to and enjoyed. You can listen to our free samples to get a feel for how the programs sound.

The files are large - it will take you a few minutes to download each file. A full CD worth of episodes takes about 14 large files. if you are on dial-up, we highly recommend you buy a CD.
