This Is Your FBI
30 minute adventure show
Begun in April of 1945, This Is Your FBI was the first of the several
FBI shows to base its episodes on actual cases. In the skilled hands of writer
Jerry Devine, the cop show genre was infused with a new authenticity and gripping
dramatic pace. Devine went directly to the FBI, attending the school for new
agents, and obtaining permission from J. Edgar Hoover to examine the files and
fictionalize closed cases.
Begun as WWII was ending, earlier stories were generally war related; later
episodes revolved around domestic crime. The stories were generally told from
the viewpoint of the criminal or his victim, and glorified the FBI while depicting
criminal life as horrifyingly sordid. The hero, agent Jim Taylor, was almost
relegated to a subsidiary role. Jim Taylor was played by actor Stacy Harris,
who also voiced "Batman" on the Superman program, and who continued
his acting career for almost two decades with an impressive resume of television
character parts.
Each episode was presented with a strong narrative track by actors Frank Lovejoy,
(Gangbusters, Night Beat and Damon Runyon Theater), Dean
Carlton and William Woodson. In addition to Devine, writers Lawrence MacArthur,
Frank Phares and Jerry D. Lewis contributed episodes until the series ended
in 1953.

large, you cannot play them on stereos, walkmen, or car radios.
The sound quality of Old Time Radio Programs can vary greatly. Some episodes
are excellent, others you have to turn up the volume a little and ignore the
static. All of the episodes can be listened to and enjoyed. You can listen to
