“Born to great riches, talented and handsome until we see the final dissolution of this unhappy being. Who sought to split his soul in twain and assume a separate identity for each side of his dual nature. The one entirely good the other completely evil “
First written in 1886 by Robert Louis Stevenson, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde became a success immediately. Within 1 year of its publication the story was made into a play, and into a movie in 1908, 1913, and a very famous film in 1920 starring Lionel Barrymore. The story is well known: a scientist, Dr. Jekyll, creates a potion and separates his personalities. The good side of his nature is Dr. Jekyll, while his evil tendencies become the horrific Mr. Hyde. This is one of the earliest Old Time Radio programs available, first airing in 1932. Not only is it one of the earliest, but it is also complete, containing all 52 episodes. The radio program stars George Edwards, is adapted for radio by Betty Roland and fleshes out
the Stevenson story.
