This half hour anthology series aired from 1948 to 1953. The host was James Hilton, a British literary giant of the time (author of Goodbye, Mr. Chips, and Lost Horizon). He sought out great stories that he liked, dramatized them, and put them on the air. Lionel Barrymore later took over the hosting role. This radio anthology transformed into the Hallmark Television Playhouse and from that into the Hallmark Hall of Fame television show, one of the longest running tv shows of all time.
