The Molle Mystery Theater began on September 7, 1943 and lasted under several different names, formats, and networks until 1954. (This collection has up to 1948.) Molle was the sponsor:

The show featured classics by masters of mystery like Edgar Allen Poe to modern authors like Raymond Chandler and William Irish. The host of the program was Geoffrey Barnes, a self described “ connoisseur of mysteries”, played by Bernard Lenlow. The program had many radio professionals in the episodes, Elspeth Eric, Joseph Julien, Frank Lovejoy, and others all appeared. In 1947 Molle dropped its sponsorship, and the program changed its name to The Mystery Theatre and was sponsored by Sterling Drugs. In 1948 it moved to CBS, then in 1951 again changed its name to “Hearthstone of the Death Squad”.

All of our Old Time Radio Programs are in MP3 format. You can play them on your computer, you can transfer them to MP3 players (like the IPod), but, by and large, you cannot play them on stereos, walkmen, or car radios.
The sound quality of Old Time Radio Programs can vary greatly. Some episodes are excellent, others you have to turn up the volume a little and ignore the static. All of the episodes can be listened to and enjoyed. You can listen to our free samples to get a feel for how the programs sound.
